Today the health industry has incorporated technology in almost every aspect of their operations. Some may even go as far as to say that the industry has become “dependent” on technology. This is especially true in the case of electronic health records. What would happen if the electronic health record system were to “crash” and leave doctors without any of their patients’ information? Actually, it’s already happened. On December 5th one hospital’s electronic health records system went down for over 36 hours. Their story is a warning to every health system to make sure that emergency procedures are in place incase their EHR system fails. How do you feel about this level of dependence on technology for YOUR health information?
