Project Manager

“Just make it happen!” For all of us in the business world, that phrase is nothing new, but nonetheless, something we all dread. Maybe you’ve been working really hard, implementing new projects, trying new sales tactics…and nothing is working. Your bosses/CEOs have told you, bottom line, you need to make your goal/initiative happen – so what now? Our answer is simple – hire an outside project manager (see our other blogs for previous articles). Read below to learn 3 signs it is time to hire an external project manager to help meet your goals, and why this is a good thing:

1. Your team is becoming unmotivated and fed up

While this may seem obvious, many people forget that when your team becomes unmotivated, tired, and frustrated while working to meet project goals, you need to act quickly to bring them back on board. The mistake? Thinking you can do this internally. When it comes to this point, investing in an outside project manager is the only real solution. The unbiased perspective and neutral voice will bring fresh ideas and solutions, provide an objective presence all parties can relate to, and create an all-around revitalized environment for you, your team members, and your entire company – all wile helping you meet your goals.

2. You’re over budget, out of time, and frustrated

Similar to when your team members are unmotivated and frustrated, it is absolutely imperative to bring in an outside project manager when your goal, project or initiative is over budget and overdue. The reasons? You need a third party, neutral perspective in order to find the true reason for delays and be able to get things back on track. Investing in an outside project manager when you’re already behind may seem “strange,” but it is the only way you can still meet your goal, in as close to the original timeline and budget as possible. More importantly still? It ensures you deliver high quality results that will have a sustainable impact on your company. Don’t let the fear of spending money when you’re over budget scare you – it will truly save you more money in the long run for the success of your goal, project or initiative.

3. Your existing strategies have set you back

You had a plan, and it didn’t work out. So maybe you tried another one, or changed an aspect, tried a new tactic…and still, you’re not where you need to be. When you have that thought, hire an outside project manager. It can be scary since it is another “tactic” that you aren’t convinced will work, but don’t let that fear stop you. Hiring a project manager when your existing strategies haven’t worked is one of the smartest things you can do. A project manager will bring a new and fresh perspective that allows them to see WHY the other tactics didn’t work, and to ensure the one you use going forward will. Utilizing a project manager will ensure you meet your goal or initiative and provide satisfactory results for everyone involved.

While we understand more than most that hiring an outside individual in moments of “crisis” can seem scary and like a bad idea, trust us when we say (with 30 years of experience backing it), that this time is THE most critical time TO hire outside help. So, take the dive, hire the project manager, and see what success you’re able to achieve.
