If 2020 has taught us anything, it is how to adapt. From our personal lives to almost all areas of business, the pandemic has changed the world. Many of the changes, especially in business, are here to stay. Particularly the need for agility. As we look towards the future of our business and our own industries, the role and importance of agility will continue to grow. That means, if we want to continue to be successful, we must make sure we are agile in ALL areas of our business. Read below to learn three of the reasons why:

Company Culture

We all know how important company culture is to the success of our business. But what is new to many of us, is how important an agile company culture is. Or what that even means! Estelle Johannes gives a good example of some core qualities of an agile culture, “It is being an outcome-focused company versus having staff clock-in their hours. So mutual trust is important for this work…Employees should feel like failure is learning and a step closer to success.” This shows why agile culture is the trend moving forward. We all need to trust, need to think about outcomes and goals not hours, and encourage failure. Failure means you tried something new, that you are trying to innovate. Innovation will be the driver for your business’s success, so build it into your culture now.

Client Needs
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1605713140734{margin-bottom: 2.5% !important;}”]
I think we can all agree that meeting our clients’ needs is our top priority. After all, without clients, we don’t have a business. As our clients’ landscape change, we will have to become more agile in how we meet their needs. Agility helps us be nimble, think out of the box, and put people first. These are all key aspects of making a happy client. You can start now by identifying what old processes you have that do not serve your clients. These are key areas where agility can help transform you and bring more clients your way.

Project Management
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1605713185731{margin-bottom: 2.5% !important;}”]
Project management and project managers (PMs) are here to stay. As we’ve already discussed, the use of them will continue to rise because of the positive impact it has on our businesses. If you are not already agile, working with a good PM will MAKE you agile. Project managers have been practicing agility for years, because they know it has a huge impact on a project and a company’s success. So, if you find yourself struggling to put agility into practice, consider hiring a project manager to help. They will ensure that you do it right, so you and your employees feel the benefit and know how to navigate this new terrain.

Agility can be confusing, especially when you try to put it in to practice. But it doesn’t have to be. Start by defining what it means in your business. Don’t get caught up in definitions, get caught up in leading by example. Agility is something best seen in action. You need to help train your employees on responding rapidly and being flexible without compromising quality and integrity. Agility is the wave of the future – adopt it now and your business and clients will thank you.
